Pancakes The Bad Seed

I don't know about this naughty kitty. Mila and her have not become fast friends. Today I heard a scuffle on the bathroom and when I went to investigate I found Mila on her back in her litter shielding her face from Pancakes paw of death. I quickly broke the fight and reiterated the fact that Mila is number one by picking her up and comforting her. Its only been two weeks so I think they may just work it out themselves.

Mila vs. Pancakes

So far so good is how I can explain the new addition of Pancakes to the family. Mostly, Mila ignores Pancakes and Pancakes is curious of Mila. They have been playing the chasing game and hitting each other in the face. As you can see from the pictures above Mila has been good about sharing her window.

Pancakes

Pat and I welcomed a new addition to our family last Friday. We named her Pancakes. She is about three years old. She was introduced to Mila over the weekend and Mila did not take it so well. However, Pancakes was completely laid back. Mila will come around I'm sure. Pancakes is going to be a permanent resident of our Chicago apartment to keep Pat company while Mila and I are away. I guess I'll have to rename my blog.

R.I.P. Smokie

My kitty passed away last week. She lived at my mother's house and passed peacefully in her kitty bed. She was over twenty years old. I remember adopting her from the Humane Society and realizing she might have not been the friendliest cat. Over time she warmed up to my mom and I but she really hated most everyone else. Smokie has many stories to tell. From once attacking my cousin and scratching her feet so bad we had to but seriously 50 band aids on the cuts. Or the time she cornored my mother in law between the first and second flights of stairs hissing and whacking her paws allover her feet. One of the only people Smokie ever really warmed up to was Pat. First Smokie hissed but later that night she laid on hid lap and they became instant friends. Despite Smokie's standoffish behavior she will be missed. She acted as a mother to George. She would clean him and curl up with him after his long nights outdoors. I would like to thank my Mother for her care and dignity when Smokie was near the end. Smokie was laid to rest at home in the comfort of her own bed and with the love of her mommy by her side.
